The New York State Writers Institute welcomed Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Tyehimba Jess recently. Jess, whose book 'Olio' won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, met with students in the Performing Arts Center and shared his personal creative process. Later that evening, a lively crowd filed into the Main Theater of the Performing Arts Center and enjoyed a night of slam poetry readings with Jess and UAlbany students and alumni.
